Hooked on Phonics: a NaNo Playlist for Among the Infidels [by Sam]
First thing that you should know is that this is a massive NaNo playlist—which is different from my regular fanmixes in that it’s a playlist and in this case seven discs long. You’ve been warned. It's really, really, really, really, reaally, long.
So, on the fun stuff. This is a playlist for Sam’s NaNo Novel: Among the Infidels or, The Lovely Moon's Encroachment into the Lands of Disbelief. As for the music, each part is in a zip, but if you want just a few songs I can put that together as well. If you have any trouble with anything, please tell me.
DISCLAIMER: SOME OF THESE SONGS CONTAIN EXPLICIT LYRICS & ADULT SITUATIONS
Because this mix is so huge, all of the lyrics and such will be in a spoiler cut.
On to the mix.
Ta,
Cal.
I made two different covers.

Please, please, please sister Socrates,
You always answer with a question;
Show some kindness to a petty thief,
Forgive, you did forgive.
7. Sunken Waltz by Calexico
washed my face in the rivers of empire
made my bed from a cardboard crate
down in the city of quartz
no news, no new regrets
tossed a Susan B. over my shoulder
and prayed it would rain and rain
submerge the whole western states
English Translation-ish
all boys and girls of my age
walk down the street two by two
all boys and girls of my age
know well what it is to be happy
Their eyes on their eyes, hand in hand
they go on in love without fear of the following day.
9. Campfire Kansas by The Get Up Kids
Our boats collide, we feel the breeze,
We stay afloat and make the most of everything.
By noon we had swung on ropes in the woods,
Missed all dangers, snakes and the floods,
Burned by the rays and next to our legs,
The water so bitter cold.
10. Hopeless Tender by State Radio
Here in the old country she
Grew up just as they said
Trying to make up for what was missing
As the land faded to red
Here in the old country hair falls
Coarsely round their necks
Having your wit about you
Can hurt more than it protects

19. Window on the World by Jimmy Buffett
A cup of coffee in a shaky hand
Wakin’ up in a foreign land
Tryin’ to act like I got somethin’ planned
[...]
Could you stand a little closer, girl
Don’t let mama cut those curls
That’s my window on the world
In broad daylight that circus tent
Pulled up stakes, I don’t know where it went
A close dark room with a busted vent
That’s my window on the world
[…]
That’s my window on the world
Could you stand a little closer, girl
The Queen of Sheba meets the Duke of Earle
That’s my window on the world

The cover art is amazing. These are so educational. I always learn about different music when you post these. You should have like your own little musical school thingy.
